Meet Maryland Sierra Club 2019 Spring Interns

Every season the Maryland Sierra Club welcomes a new group of interns to help us with our important work of protecting the environment.  Meet our Spring 2019 interns!

Corinne Schober, Legislative Intern

Corinne is from Lancaster, PA, and is a senior at Loyola University Maryland, majoring in History with a minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. She loves traveling and exploring new places with her friends and family, and being outside. Here she is pictured hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand. She chose to intern with the Sierra Club because she wanted to gain professional experience working with a powerful grassroots organization that is focused on environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Nikhitaa Sanjay, Transportation and Energy Intern

Nikhitaa is from Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and is a junior double majoring in International Relations and Economics. Her favorite thing to do outdoors is hike, especially in the New Hampshire mountains over the summer with her friends. She wanted to work at Sierra Club to see get more insight on how a grassroots organization can really make a difference in local communities and statewide.

Anna Eyler, Communications and Water Intern

 Anna is from Frederick, MD, and is a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is majoring in Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in Sustainability Studies. In her free time, she loves to travel, hike, draw, read, and spend time with her friends and family. Here she is in front of the Volcán de Agua in Antigua, Guatemala. She chose to intern with the Sierra Club because she wanted to see how grassroots advocacy could lead to real change.

Brittany McGill, Conservation Outings Intern

Brittany McGill photoBrittany lives in Monkton, Maryland, and is a senior at the University of Maryland, majoring in Environmental Science and Policy. She loves animals, photography, reading, and baking. Some of her favorite outdoor activities are hiking, biking, swimming, waterskiing, and kayaking. She chose to intern with the Sierra Club because she is passionate about saving the environment, and wanted to get a look at behind-the-scenes work of an influential environmental non-profit.

Skylar Petrik, Stewardship Intern

Skylar is from Columbia, MD and is a senior at University of Maryland, College Park. She is majoring in Environmental Science and Policy. In her free time, she loves to travel, watch Netflix, and explore places with her friends. Some of her outdoor activities are hiking, swimming, kayaking, and going to be beach. Here she is pictured of hiking at Gunpowder Falls State Park in Middle River, Maryland. She chose to intern with the Sierra Club because she wants to gain experience working for environmental non-profit and learn more about current environmental issues.

Sasha Tidwell, Transportation & Energy Intern

Sasha is from Takoma Park, MD, and is a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, majoring in Environmental Politics and Policy. He enjoys backpacking on the Appalachian trail and has hiked the entire Maryland section of the trail and a large part of it in Virginia and Pennsylvania. He began working at the Sierra Club because he is interested in doing writing, research and advocacy for climate issues related to clean energy development and the removal of fossil fuels.
