By Juan Peralta, Philly Climate Works (PCW) Organizer
Hello everyone! My name is Juan Peralta, and I am excited to join the Sierra Club Pennsylvania Chapter as an organizer for Philly Climate Works. I am originally from Harlem, NYC, but moved to Philadelphia with my partner and our two kids to be closer to family.
For most of my life, I've been a dedicated activist and community organizer. My heart has always lied in helping raise the voices of historically marginalized communities which are very rarely heard or prioritized in decision-making processes. My organizing background has been deeply rooted in housing advocacy and fighting against police brutality, which has shown me firsthand the incredible power of people united in the struggle to drive real change.
In addition to organizing, I have a background in video production and cultural programming. I've utilized these skills to create media that uplifts grassroots movements and to facilitate community events that foster education, solidarity, and collaboration. I am very happy to be able to share my skills and experiences in this new role with Philly Climate Works.
I look forward to working with all of you as we strive for a more equitable and sustainable future not only for Philadelphia but for the world as a whole.
