In his photo, John captures the rare warmth and vibrant beauty of a late October afternoon on Edinboro Lake. With peak colors reflecting off glassy water, the image evokes the deep connection locals feel for this treasured lake, which feeds into French Creek and the Allegheny Watershed.

"It was an unusually balmy late afternoon in late October on Edinboro Lake (Erie County). It's been known to snow up here by this time, but on this day it was warm enough for shorts, and we got an absolutely beautiful last paddle of the season! Water: glassy. Colors: peak! Made us feel so fortunate to be so close to a local treasure: locals care a lot about Edinboro Lake, as it is a well-taken-care-of gem that feeds French Creek and the Allegheny Watershed."
