Sierra Club letter to UMD regarding turf athletic fields

On November 4th, the Sierra Club wrote a letter to University of Maryland, College Park president Wallace D. Loh, expressing concern over the University's shift towards synthetic artificial turf athletic fields.  Earlier this year Doron Tadmor introduced a resolution to the University of Maryland, College Park Student Governemnt Association which calls for a two phase shift back to natural grass turf.   The resolution passed  22-4-3.

This is our first public engagement with the University on this topic.  We've requested a meeting with the University discuss further, and look forward to a productive discussion.  As of December 5th we have not heard back from the University, and have decided to make our letter, and our concerns, available to to the public.
