Introducing New Transportation Representative Lindsey Mendelson

Lindsey MendelsonJoin us this June in welcoming Lindsey Mendelson to our Sierra Club Maryland Chapter staff! Lindsey is the Conservation Representative with the Transportation for All Campaign of the Maryland Sierra Club based in College Park. Prior to joining the Chapter staff, Lindsey worked as the Global Warming Advocate with Environment America, where she built public support to strengthen and expand a regional climate  program led by Maryland and other Eastern states to tackle carbon pollution from dirty power plants.

Lindsey brings several years of experience in community organizing. She directed a voter registration office in 2016 that helped to register over 37,000 underrepresented voters in Atlanta, Georgia and spent the summer of 2017 building citizen support to defend critical programs in the EPA budget. She originally caught the bug for grassroots organizing as a student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she successfully activated the student body to push for a coal divestment referendum with the Beyond Coal Campaign.

"I am absolutely elated to be working with the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club to tackle climate change emissions from the transportation sector and drive the state down the road to the clean, safe, and equitable transportation system we need for our nation," said Mendelson. "I am so grateful to be working for an incredible organization with such a robust track record and I cannot wait to help position Maryland as a leader on this issue.
