Carbon Farm in Your Own Backyard

  • Compost yard and food waste; encourage others to do the same
  • Start carbon farming in your own backyard (see our Dirty Dozen tips)

Vote with Your Pocketbook: What You Buy Helps or Hurts Our Environment

  • Buy from local farmers’ markets
  • Buy organic produce (it may not be grown using regenerative methods, but it’s not destructive)
  • Ask for and buy produce from farmers who use regenerative agricultural methods
  • Eat less beef and buy grass-fed beef
  • Eat healthier; avoid processed foods and fast-food restaurants
  • Avoid products containing palm oil
  • Buy FSC certified wood and paper products
  • Buy recycled or reclaimed wood and paper products

Spread the Word and Network

  • Write letters to editors
  • Contact your local leaders and representatives
  • Incorporate the importance of soil health and its role in carbon sequestration into your advocacy efforts
  • Talk to your neighbors
